Sex, alcohol and illicit drugs are topics many parents would prefer to avoid, but an important foundation for kid's development is shaping their perspectives on these issues.  How do you encourage young people to value abstaining from sex, alcohol and other drugs as teenagers?  ........By keeping them informed and being open to their questions.

Three keys to instilling the value of responsibility in your child

1. Break new tasks into smaller steps to teach the child until they can do the entire task alone
2. Use lists for keeping track of responsibilities
3. Recognize or praise your child's responsible behavior

Internet Safety Tips to share with your child

1. Never give out your name, age, or where you live.
2. Never make a face-to-face meeting with someone you meet on-line.
3. Never respond to messages that are suggestible or make you feel uncomfortable.
