GSMCC has two properties for use as troop/group camping or outside rental, Camp Deer Trails and Camp Wacousta. Camp Deer Trails is our council's resident camp during the summer months. Please check out the links to the left for camp rental and availablility information. Please note we can not accept facility reservations more than five months prior to the reservation date.
CAMP DEER TRAILS
Camp Deer Trails is Girl Scouts of Michigan Capital Council's resident camp property located on Long Lake in Harrison, Michigan, 90 minutes north of Lansing. The 201 acre property is wooded and includes a half mile of beautiful waterfront area, complete with an island. Five platform tent rustic living units, a new bathroom facility and latrines, running water and fire circles accommodate campers three seasons of the year.
The main camp includes an office, trading post, health facility, open-air shower house, bathrooms, and cabins that can accomodate from 3 to 20 people. All of the buildings, with the exception of the office, trading post and bathroom, are winterized for troop/group usage in the off season.

Program areas include an archery range, craft lodge, swimming and boating facilities, a sports field and amphitheater. Winter programs include ice skating, sledding and cross country skiing.
Camp Deer Trails is accredited by the American Camp Association. We are proud to say that we have achieved the standards set by this national organization in the areas of health, safety, personnel, program, and site administration.

CAMP WACOUSTA
Camp Wacousta is a 17 acre camp facility located 20 minutes west of Lansing. The Looking Glass River dissects the property. Camp Wacousta is in a rural, residential area. Two troop houses, Mill Run and Holiday Haven, can accommodate campers year round. Remodeled in 1987, the facilities offer troops/groups fully equipped kitchens, modern baths and comfortable surroundings.
Nature trails and large, open, groomed areas provide campers with a variety of program opportunities.
